A new poll shows Democratic nominee Joe Biden with a 14 point lead nationally over President Trump, following the first presidential debate last week.
The survey, which was conducted by NBC News and The Wall Street Journal, was taken between Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 and covered 800 registered voters. It had a margin of error of around 3.5 percent. The results showed 53 percent of respondents said they'd vote for the former vice president, compared to 39 percent for Trump.
This may well be accurate -- as far as it goes. Yet I note that NBC has a strong bias against Trump, as does the news side of the Wall Street Journal (as opposed to its editorials/opinion department).
I also note that the poll actually found that Trump only trails Biden by 4 points on positive popularity, a figure that may not be all that significant as far as difference goes. On negative popularity, Trump leads Biden by 14 points. So we see the headline writers chose negative popularity and converted it to 'Biden leads Trump by 14 points.' Yet, nationally, this isn't much different from usual. Many people don't relate to Trump's personal style. So what else is new?
