The current impeachment push should be seen in light of the intelligence system's desire to pay back President Trump for refusing to pay homage to the top tiers of spookdom, according to Tucker Carlson, a Fox News commentator.
Early in January 2017, the president-elect tweeted:
Carlson said, "Democratic Senator Chuck Schumer of New York was arriving at MSNBC's midtown Manhattan Studios. He went to the set and the anchor of the show he was on that night, Rachel Maddow, pulled up Trump's tweet on a screen, live on TV, and asked Chuck Schumer to comment on that tweet. He hadn't seen the tweet before, of course, he couldn't have known it was coming."
Carlson added, "For one of the most calculating politicians in Washington, it was a rare unscripted moment. And so, for the first time in a long time, Chuck Schumer just went with the unvarnished truth. Here's what he said:
Ron Paul, a former congressman for Texas and a libertarian activist has expressed similar sentiments: “It’s hard not to ask whether this is a genuine impeachment effort … or a CIA coup!”

Early in January 2017, the president-elect tweeted:
The 'Intelligence' briefing on so-called 'Russian hacking' was delayed until Friday, perhaps more time needed to build a case. Very strange!Trump was to have been briefed on the matter but had riled intelligence officials by sharply questioning intelligence system evidence that Russia was necessarily behind election-year political hacking, citing WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange's assertion that a 14-year-old could have broken into the emails of John Podesta, the Clinton campaign director.

Let me tell you, you take on the intelligence community, they have six ways from Sunday at getting back at you. So even for a practical, supposedly hard-nosed businessman, he is being really dumb to do this."Carlson declared that Schumer went on to say he did not know exactly what the spy agencies would do to Trump as punishment "for being dumb enough" to criticize them in public. He quoted Schumer:
From what I am told, they are very upset about how he has treated them and talked about them.Carlson went on to list a series of major events in world history that the CIA had failed to foresee. In particular, Carlson said, the CIA claimed the Soviet Union was as strong as ever just before its fall.
