More D.C. fireworks in store

No need for concern that supplementary witnesses demanded by Democrats at the last minute of the impeachment silliness won't have their day.

We can expect that John R. Bolton, a former national security adviser to President Trump, will be summoned to testify by either House intelligence panel head Adam Schiff or House judiciary panel Jerrold Nadler. A court fight may be necessary, as Bolton is barred from testifying under the executive privilege doctrine. But there should be plenty of time for that.

And, as Bolton had agreed to testify, if subpoened, in the Senate impeachment trial, there is also the prospect that he could be called in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee, headed by Lindsey Graham.

Though Schiff or Nadler are likely to handle Bolton with kid gloves in order to elicit the most damaging anti-Trump statements from Bolton, the same is not true of Graham, who is likely to give Bolton the third-degree treatment.

Graham has also signaled an interest in having Joe Biden and his son Hunter testify on their role in the money-grabbing Burisma-Ukraine scandal.

In addition to all that, in a few months John Durham, U.S. prosecutor investigating secret-police tactics against Trump, should be ready with grand jury indictments for criminal abuses of power.
