Virus team effort? Forget it. Let's get back to impeachment

Democratic impeachment maneuvers are back on the agenda regardless of the C virus menace facing the nation.

Democrats wrung a victory today from a federal appeals court saying that an impeachment inquiry means the Justice Department must hand over secret materials from the grand juries empaneled on behalf of Robert Mueller's Russia inquiries.

Judge Judith W. Rogers found the House in its impeachment investigation was legally engaged in a judicial process that exempts Congress from secrecy rules that typically shield grand jury materials from disclosure. Grand jury records, she noted, are court records — not Justice Department records — and have historically been released to Congress in the course of impeachment investigations involving three federal judges and two presidents.

Rogers seemingly was uninterested in the fact that the impeachment case is over, implying that she either has been informed that it isn't actually over, or that she doesn't think it ought to be moot.
